SEATTLE ENDS THEIR SCHOOL STRIKE, WHY IS AMERICA THE ONLY COUNTRY WHERE TEACHERS GO ON STRIKE

This past Sunday, Seattle school teachers ended their strike after negotiating their contracts with the union, even though it is a tentative agreement. As usual, the issue why Seattle teachers went on strike was because of PAY, our teachers do not get paid enough, and when it is time for them to renew contracts what they are asking for seems to be alot. According to Al Jazeera America, the teachers will get 9.5% raise over a three year period, which is how long the contracts last and more input on standardized testing. What was interesting about this teachers strike, is that teachers also demanded 30 minute recess for all elementary school students. 1) Why do elementary school students do not have recess? 2) Was it a smart move to take away or not a recess to elementary school students? It is way past time that our teachers and support staff are giving the decent pay raises for their hard work, teachers should not have to go on a strike to and fight for the pay raises and better standards. How can AMERICA, constantly say they are the best when teachers are constantly fighting to improve the education system because this system that is in place is not helping our students to succeed. It is sad that this is the only country where our teachers are going on strike. In a clip by comedians Key&Peele, this is how our teachers should be treated: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dkHqPFbxmOU
