THE GOP-AMERICA’S DEATH PANEL PART 2

We are 9 months into Donald Trump presidency and the GOP (Grand Old Pricks) controlling both houses of Congress have yet to get anything accomplished. Thus far, the GOP has only worked on one legislation and that is healthcare. For the past 7 years, the GOP has campaigned on repealing and replacing the ACA and they have lied and stated there were death panels associated with the ACA. Sidebar: notice every health law the GOP proposes millions of people lose health coverage. Now we see the GOP are the death panel. In a soon to be another failed attempt at healthcare, the Graham-Cassidy bill is by far the worst legislation the GOP has come up with and they do not seem to understand that we the people need to afford health coverage and not lose health coverage.

“Sidebar: notice every health law the GOP proposes millions of people lose health coverage.”

Recap: early this Spring, the first attempt to repeal and replace the ACA the GOP did not have enough votes to pass their bill. In the second attempt which was in July, 3 Senators-Collins, McCain and Murkowski voted against the bill killing it and giving a blow to Mitch McConnell. Here we are almost at the end of 2017 and the GOP came up with the Graham-Cassidy bill another ghastly health bill that will cause more damage. The GOP attempted to pass this bill without a CBO (Congressional Budget Office) score or anyone knowing, however, we the people are cognizant and have been calling our Senators to vote no on this ghastly bill. Here is what is in this horrible bill. First, 32 million people will lose health insurance, states will discriminate against people with pre-existing conditions, Planned Parenthood will be eliminated and the bill will end Medicaid. Additionally, the funds for this dismal health bill will be turned into block grants and be given to states where they can do what they want with the money. Sidebar: notice every policy proposal of the GOP, they want to convert every social program such as Medicaid into a block grant or voucher program. Yet statistics show us that it will cost states and our federal government in losing money if any program is turned into a block grant or voucher.

The goal of universal healthcare is to provide health coverage and not have millions of people losing health coverage. Every health proposal the GOP has come up with millions of people lose health coverage and raise the cost of healthcare exponentially. Sidebar: the GOP loves to argue they are fiscally conservative and want to end government wasteful spending. However, every health law they have proposed raises cost of healthcare not making it affordable. On Friday Sen. McCain opposed the dismal health bill the GOP attempted to pass. His reason is that the GOP is not going through the proper procedures and he does not agree with the approach. Because of his opposition to the bill, it is reported it may not pass.

President Obama in his 2015 state of the union, stated: “if you do not like the ACA, then come up with a better plan.” Since 2010 the GOP has been campaigning and sabotaging the ACA; for 7 years the GOP could not come up with a better health plan that will not cost millions of people to lose health coverage or raise the cost of premiums. For all of 2017 the GOP has wasted time on this one piece of legislation and have been unsuccessful. It is time America provide universal healthcare like every other industrialized country.

UPDATE: As of Monday September 25th, Sen. Susan Collins of Maine will not support the Graham-Cassidy bill.
