“Despite the uncertainty over the extent of the killings, the carnage was of a multiplicity many times worse than the deaths of 17 in Paris”. Two weeks ago, there was a terrorist attack in Paris, where 17 people were killed and world leaders came out to march arm in arm. Before the attacks in Paris and the death of the 17 people, there have been attacks in Nigeria by Boko Haram that have been terrorizing citizens and killing innocent people. During the week of the Paris attacks, hundreds of people died, without the media shedding light on these attacks and nor did world leaders speak out against these attacks. It is disgusting that the media neglected to shed light on Nigeria and the massacre where hundreds and thousands of people have died at the hands of Boko Haram, yet 17 people die in Paris and world leaders come out to march against terrorism. Too often countries like Nigeria do not get the attention or help needed from world leaders or the media to shed light on the terrorism that constantly takes place, they ignore the terror attacks in Nigeria and neighboring countries because they are not an interest to the Western countries, unless they want to profit from their natural resources.
