A few nights ago, I attended a COMMUNITY MEETING and there were only a few people there, especially young people. The discussions were about the local elections, the SPLOST and voting laws. As many of you should know, there are local elections that are taking place on November 5th for city council and the SPLOST to improve parks and roads. However, at the meeting there was a lady who talked about …other meetings she attended and how only very few people showed up to those meetings. She was upset and kept asking
HOW DO WE GET MORE PEOPLE TO ATTEND TO COMMUNITY MEETINGS???
CITIZENS need to be more involved in their communities, if they can spend 45 minutes online social networking then they can spare 45 minutes at meeting to become inform. Furthermore, if citizens complain about buildings, roads, parks and anything needs improvement, going to a meeting is the place for them to voice their concerns and ideas on making such improvements.
