IS AMERICA’S FOREIGN POLICY TARNISHED?

For decades, America was at the helm of foreign policy, establishing relationships with heads of state from various countries who we created alliances with. America’s foreign policy made the nation strong and placed the nation as world leader preventing other nations from rivaling America in international affairs. Since World War 2, America’s foreign policy was the best in the world because of the diplomatic leadership of our President’s, Ambassadors, National Security Advisors and Secretary of States. Donald Trump recent firings of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster has harmed the nation decades-long accomplished foreign policy built by people who understood the importance of international relationships. Men and women with diplomatic decorum built America’s foreign policy which shaped our place as world leader and the firing of Rex Tillerson, H.R. McMaster illustrates the bad direction America foreign policy is going and Mike Pompeo being the replacement as Secretary of State further damages the country foreign policy.

“Sidebar: China’s government changing their constitution, Cuba elects Miguel Mario Diaz Canel as the new President, both North Korea and South Korea meet for the first time in 70 years. These changes taken place without strong leadership in America raise’s the question if the nation Foreign Policy is tarnished?

Mike Pompeo who recently visited Kim Jung Un and was sworn in as the new Secretary of State is now a leader in America’s foreign policy, however his record and his place on international relations are similar to Donald Trump which has tarnished our relationships and damaged decades of work built with real leaders who understand diplomacy. Furthermore, with groundbreaking events in China’s government changing their constitution allowing Xi Jinping to stay president indefinitely, Cuba electing Miguel Mario Diaz Canel as new President, both North Korea and South Korea meet for the first time in 70 years, without America’s involvement raise’s the question if America’s Foreign Policy is tarnished? Since Donald Trump’s year in office, many relationships with world leaders have deteriorated and many world leaders do not trust Trump. His irrationality and poor decision-making is tarnishing America’s Foreign Policy and putting our national security at risk.

“Since Donald Trump’s year in office, many relationships with world leaders have deteriorated and many world leaders do not trust Trump. His irrationality in poor decision-making is tarnishing America’s Foreign Policy and putting our national security at risk.”

Among the recent announcement from Kim Jong Un to denuclearizing North Korea’s nukes without America using hard power and not being involved in the meeting with South Korea, America’s foreign policy is not tarnished, but America’s influence is waning. These events question the strength of America’s foreign policy because of the international reputation of being the world’s leader and the world’s policemen. Kim Jong Un abandoning North Korea’s nukes is a big step in the right direction and illustrates his willingness to make a change to become part of the international community. Moreover, it illustrates the changes in the international community without America being at the forefront.

“These events question America’s foreign policy because of the national reputation of being the world’s leader and the world’s policemen.”

Donald Trump firing of Rex Tillerson and H.R. McMaster and bad policy decisions has downgraded America’s foreign policy. The power of America’s foreign policy is not as strong as it used to be. For decades, men and women with strong diplomacy skills and an understanding of the needs of world leaders and their country helped America build strong relationships and a strong foreign policy keeping our nation safe. Although, America’s foreign policy is not tarnished, it’s not as powerful as it once was which will take years to rebuild.
