THIS ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT PART 9: IRAN NUCLEAR DEAL AND AMERICA’S FOREIGN POLICY

Diplomacy is a key characteristic needed to solve problems, have a strong relationship with various countries and world leaders. In addition, diplomacy is highly necessary when working with countries and world leaders to carry out policies beneficial to the countries and the international community. Once again, Donald Trump is reversing another one of President Obama policies making the nation look bad and causing a rift with other countries. Furthermore, Trump pulling out of the Iran Nuclear Deal is another demonstration of his inability of not being diplomatic and understanding foreign policy. Recap: throughout the 2012 election, many GOP candidates stated the Iran Nuclear Deal was bad, but actual evidence suggest the deal worked. According to Vox, “this put the U.S. in violation of its obligations under the agreement, and thus constitutes a unilateral American withdrawal from the deal.” First, America is a nation known for following through on their obligations and not pulling out of agreements. Trump taking America out of the Iran Nuclear Deal we made with the other 5 countries, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany tarnishes our relationships with these countries and world leaders. Moreover, it questions America trustworthiness when it comes to making agreements. Since 2015 Iran has complied with the deal made, reducing their uranium, reducing their centrifuges and stopping operation in one of their facilities used to make plutonium that could fuel a bomb. Iran followed their end of the deal which strengthened our relationship under President Obama.

“Iran followed their end of the deal which strengthened our relationship under President Obama.”

Additionally, Iran is committed to this deal, the other countries involved are committed to this deal and it’s a relief that Iran will not take the route of North Korea and restart their nuclear program. America’s credibility is at an all-time low because Trump pulled the nation out of two agreements-The Paris Accord and now the Iran Nuclear Deal. The damage of the nations credibility will take years to repair. With the changes taken place, it’s difficult to determine if other nations will be willing to work with America again.

“Recap: Last year, Angela Merkel-Germany’s Chancellor stated Europe can no longer rely on America after Trump pulled America out of the Paris Accord.”

America influence on international policy is not strong anymore. No longer will America’s influence and decisions will be taken into account when creating deals with other countries. What’s more, America’s Foreign policy is questioned in terms of trustworthiness and reliability. Recap: Last year, Angela Merkel-Germany’s Chancellor stated, Europe can no longer rely on America after Trump pulled America out of the Paris Accord. It’s upsetting for Angela Merkel to make this statement, but a year later and this recent decision of America being pulled out of the Iran Nuclear Deal illustrates that America is not reliable or trustworthy as it once was.
