TOO BAD FOR DEMOCRACY PT2: THE PROTEST VOTE
As we draw closer to the elections in November, we can see a clear difference in the candidates, which is no difference and we can see how bad the politics are and the political system is in America. Recent polls from MSNBC and other corporate media show Clinton up by only 3-5 pts and only 1 pt in Georgia. However, in the months of June-July, there were “polls” stating if Sanders drops out of the race Hillary will lead in double digits. But, as we can see that is not the case. Americans are being forced to choose between the worst candidates in this countries history, and millennials are being guilt tripped into supporting Clinton coughs because she is better than Trump.
“I think that before you cast a protest vote because Clinton or Trump will be president, think hard about it. This is not a governor’s race. It’s not a state legislative race. This is the presidency of the United States”. Sen. Bernie Sanders
The millennials are a huge voting bloc Hillary needs, and she is not very popular with this group of voters, which is not a good sign. Last week, on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Sen. Bernie Sanders, made a plea to the millennial voters stating “I think that before you cast a protest vote because Clinton or Trump will be president, think hard about it. This is not a governor’s race. It’s not a state legislative race. This is the presidency of the United States”. Many millennials who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders are opting to write him in, or vote third-party i.e. “protest vote” because they do not believe in Hillary Clinton nor believe she is the best choice and many are still angry about the sham of the primaries against Sen. Bernie Sanders. In order for Hillary Clinton to attract millennial voters, she must focus and look at the issues affecting millennials and in my opinion, she has not done so. Hillary Clinton has not addressed millennials, have not reached out or held any town hall’s or forums discussing with the millennials her steps in helping us resolve the issues we are facing. Besides the issues, Hillary Clinton has to find a way to address the anger many millennials still have over the rigging of the primaries against Bernie Sanders, the establishment giving an apology is not enough, and if she does not speak about this, then many of these millennial voters will “protest vote” by voting third-party.
With the “protest voting” and if Trump becoming President, this is the fault of the Democratic establishment. After the sham of the primaries and the blatant disenfranchising of 3.2 million voters for Bernie Sanders, it is unfortunate this election cycle will go down as the worst election cycle in America’s history. Moreover, supporters of Bernie Sanders should vote with their conscious and not what the Democratic establishment has shoved down their throats.
