VETERANS AFFAIRS SECRETARY ERIC SHINSEKI RESIGNS
Today, Friday May 30, 2014 President Obama accepted the resignation of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. For weeks there has been turmoil in the Veterans Affairs dealing with backlogs and veterans not receiving their benefits. The Veterans Affairs has been messed up for a very long time and the chaos over the past few weeks with the resignation of Eric Shinseki illustrates that things need to change. A complete overhaul of the veterans affairs system would be the next step, changing the system to make it efficient and easier for veterans receive their benefits and easier for the veterans affairs to operate. With Eric Shinseki resignation, in this midterm election season, President Obama and Democratic leaders will have to work harder to win this year election. The GOP will capitalize on the chaos of the veterans affairs and resignation of Eric Shinseki with negative ads, and press conferences discussing the poor leadership of Shinseki. There is 6 months until the elections, for now we will have to watch how Democrats and GOP will use these events to win this year mid-term elections.
